Rome, 10 Aug. (LaPresse) – Francesco Inzoli has qualified for the long jump final at the European Athletics Championships. The 21-year-old from Milan made the most of a favourable tailwind (3.1 m/s) and landed at 8.34 metres on his third attempt, exceeding the final qualifying mark of 8.15 metres. With this jump, he finished top of the qualifying round. Inzoli will be one of the most eagerly anticipated dark horses in tomorrow evening’s final, which will be without the most highly anticipated Italian athlete, Mattia Furlani, who injured his right hamstring during his first jump – a recurrence of the muscle problem he suffered two and a half months ago in China.
