Rome, 12 August (LaPresse) – Valter Lavitola has admitted to being the instigator of the attack on Sigfrido Ranucci, which took place in October 2025 outside his home in Pomezia. During more than five hours of questioning before the investigating magistrate, he reportedly stated: “I was the one who organised the attack. I did it for Ranucci’s own good.” According to his lawyer, Sergio Cola, the motive was to increase the journalist’s security; at the time, he had two bodyguards, a number that rose to eight following the attack. Lavitola, who is being held at Rebibbia prison, reportedly ruled out a political motive. The defence has requested that he be placed under house arrest.
