Washington (US), 12 Aug. (LaPresse/AP) – Karoline Leavitt, White House spokesperson and the youngest person ever to hold the post, will step down at the end of the month, President Donald Trump has announced. Leavitt, 28, had recently returned to the White House following a brief leave of absence for the birth of her second child in May. Leavitt, who worked for Trump as a press assistant during his first term in the White House, was one of the most prominent supporters of the ‘Make America Great Again’ movement. The Republican president described her as one of his ‘most trusted aides’ in a social media post announcing her departure. He stated that Leavitt “will be stepping down at the end of the month to spend more time with her wonderful young children and her family; a decision I fully understand and respect! Karoline will now become one of my key external advisers and an influential voice within the Republican Party, as we work to defy history and win the mid-term elections decisively”.
