(LaPresse) – Two days after setting an Italian record in the heats (1’57″56), Eloisa Coiro has qualified for the final of the women’s 800 metres at the European Athletics Championships currently taking place in Birmingham. The Rome-born athlete performed well in the second semi-final – the fastest of the two – against two standout performers: British Olympian Keely Hodgkison, who led from the front to win in 1’57‘38, and the ‘flying Dutchwoman’ Femke Broeders-Bol (1’57’46), taking third place in 1’57″74, a time that secures her first outdoor European final of her career, having previously reached two indoor finals.
