The House has already passed the Sunshine Protection Act, but opposition in the Senate persists, leaving the proposal’s future uncertain. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Americans are “tired and fed up” with changing the time twice a year and argued that permanently adopting daylight saving time would benefit the country. “The Senate must vote as soon as possible on the bill to end the time change. Having more sunlight in the late afternoon is better (also for fighting crime!), but, more importantly, enough with the ridiculous twice-yearly time change, with all the inconvenience and chaos it causes. Finally, do it.” Trump said the current system is costly and inconvenient and argued that the issue could be supported by Republicans, Democrats and independents.
