Milan, 16 Aug. (LaPresse/AP) – An Israeli attack has struck Khan Younis, in the south of the Gaza Strip, injuring five people, including a child who is seriously injured. This has been reported by the Kuwaiti and Nasser hospitals, where the victims were taken. The Israeli army stated that it had targeted a member of Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Although the heaviest fighting has subsided since the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect in October, Israeli forces have carried out repeated air strikes on Gaza, killing at least 1,262 Palestinians since then, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. The ministry, which forms part of the Hamas-led government, keeps detailed records of casualties, which are generally considered reliable by UN agencies and independent experts. It does not provide a breakdown between civilian and militant casualties.
