(LaPresse) – The Lombardy Region’s Natural Risk Monitoring Centre has issued “a yellow (ordinary) alert for the risk of thunderstorms in Milan, effective from this afternoon, Sunday 16 August, until midnight tomorrow”. “Given the presence of thunderstorm risk scenarios characterised by a high degree of forecast uncertainty, members of the public are urged, in the event of rain, to take particular care when near areas at risk of river flooding and underpasses. In any case, it is important to pay close attention to weather conditions during the alert period, particularly when attending outdoor events, in order to prevent dangerous situations. In light of the alert, residents are also urged to secure scaffolding, curtains, objects and plant pots on balconies, as well as any items that could be blown away by the wind or damaged by bad weather,” writes the City Council. The Municipal Operations Centre (COC) of the Civil Protection Department of the City of Milan “will be on standby to monitor the situation and coordinate any necessary interventions in the city”.
