Rome, 17 Aug. (LaPresse) – As long as the situation of the three Iranian pilots missing in Qatar “remains uncertain, we assume they have been captured and we are using all available resources to ascertain their fate and their condition”. This was stated by the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei, in reference to the case of the pilots whom, according to Tehran, Doha is holding as prisoners of war. “This is a serious matter. We have been monitoring the situation since the day we first became aware of it,” added the spokesperson, as quoted by the media in Tehran. The Iranian armed forces claim that the pilots – Javad Salehi, Abdolmajid Dashtian and Omran Behraveshian – were captured alive after their aircraft crashed last March. Qatar has denied claims that the three are being held in secret.
