Cagliari, 17 Aug. (LaPresse) – Michela Rubiu, the 47-year-old woman attacked on 23 July by her husband Alessandro Pintus, aged 39, outside the bar in Solanas where she worked, has died. She never regained consciousness after a month in hospital in a critical condition. She passed away in the last few hours. For the suspect, who has already confessed to the murder of his 42-year-old brother Andrea Pintus – killed shortly afterwards at the family home in Quartu – the charge will now be upgraded to double murder. The incident took place at dawn on 23 July. According to the Carabinieri’s reconstruction of events, at the height of a furious argument, the man attacked his wife outside the bar they ran together, in full view of her teenage daughter, in the seaside hamlet of Sinnai, shooting her once in the head. Admitted to hospital immediately in a critical condition, Michela Rubiu never regained consciousness. The news of her death has once again plunged the community of Solanas into despair, as it loses one of its own: Michela will never return home to her two children, the youngest of whom, aged 18 months, was born to her and Pintus. The Carabinieri from the Quartu Sant’Elena station are continuing their investigations.
