Rome, 7 Mar (LaPresse/AP) – ‘We are loyal and faithful allies’. French President Emmanuel Macron thus responded to his US counterpart Donald Trump who had questioned both Washington's commitment to NATO and the solidarity of allied countries in the Transatlantic Defence Alliance. The French president stressed that for France there is ‘respect and friendship’ for the US and its leaders and added: ‘I think we have the right to expect the same’. Macron then recalled that France and the US ‘have always been there for each other’.
