The contract includes a player option for the 2028–29 season and a trade clause. Harden had declined the $42.3 million player option for next season, but following the Cavaliers’ 4–0 defeat by the New York Knicks – who went on to win the NBA title – in the Eastern Conference Finals, he had expressed a desire to return.
