Milan, 20 August (LaPresse) – “I’m really happy to be here with my friends, but let’s wait and see how things go with the team.” Ronaldinho said this on his arrival in Ravenna for his new adventure with the Romagna-based side. When asked how he was feeling, before answering a question about when Ravenna fans might see him on the pitch, the Brazilian star said with a laugh: “I’m fine. I don’t know, it depends on the chairman and the manager. I don’t know.” Ronaldinho arrived by private jet at Forlì Airport, about 30 km from Ravenna, around midday. He signed a couple of footballs for airport staff before getting into a car on the tarmac, bypassing the handful of fans waiting for him at the exit. Ronaldinho was accompanied by Ravenna’s chairman, Ignazio Cipriani, owner of the well-known Cipriani restaurant chain. Ronaldinho will not be taking to the pitch on Monday in Reggio Emilia for Ravenna’s first Serie C match, and it is not yet clear how much he hopes to play during the season. However, Cipriani has stated that his dream is for the Brazilian to score the final goal of his career whilst wearing the Ravenna shirt. “If that were to happen, all the better, wouldn’t it?” said Ronaldinho. “I’ve come here because of the friendship between us, and that’s all. Let’s see how the team gets on; I’m here to lend a hand,” he said. Ronaldinho’s last professional spell was with Fluminense in 2015. This is his second spell in Italy, having previously played for Milan from 2008 to 2011. He won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002 and the Ballon d’Or in 2005.
