According to the prosecution, the woman initially consented to sexual intercourse but later withdrew her consent, fearing for her safety. The 30-year-old artist, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, learned today that Australian prosecutors intend to try him for a second time on these charges. Barrientos underwent an eight-day trial last month over the same incident at the District Court of Western Australia in Perth. The jury found him guilty on two charges relating to the assault of the woman, who was 20 at the time, resulting in personal injuries, but found him not guilty of strangling her and of three rape charges. The new trial will focus on the latter charges, and a date has not yet been set. Barrientos has been free on bail since being charged and has been allowed to return to the United Kingdom for several months.
