Milano, Aug. 21 (LaPresse) – US President Donald Trump did not want to negotiate with Elon Musk to extend Starlink’s coverage to Ukraine, even after a personal request from President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Financial Times reports this, citing sources according to which Zelensky asked Trump to reach an agreement with Musk to extend Starlink coverage for the Ukrainian armed forces beyond Ukraine’s borders, including Russian territory. “According to some sources, Zelensky’s proposal was for Musk to allow Ukraine to use Starlink on long-range attack drones, with a range of up to 200 km inside Russian territory, which would have included infrastructure for launching ballistic missiles, command systems and other assets,” the financial newspaper writes. “Trump avoided making commitments and, according to people present at the meeting in the Oval Office, did not support the plan,” it further reports. “They therefore do not believe Musk will give Kyiv his approval.”
