Turin, 24 Aug. (LaPresse) – The European Commission has signed an agreement to purchase PCR tests worth €2.1 million to tackle the Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak. The PCR tests will be donated to the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Global Health Emergencies Logistics Centre in Dubai, which will organise their distribution. Deliveries are due to begin this month. The diagnostic tests follow another agreement reached earlier this week, under which the Commission purchased rapid molecular tests for decentralised diagnostics and testing equipment worth €2.5 million, intended for the African Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).
