Flagstaff (Arizona, USA), 31 August (LaPresse) – One person has died and around 15 are missing following severe flash flooding at the Grand Canyon. The National Park Service announced on Sunday evening that the body of a 46-year-old man had been recovered near Crystal Rapids, along the River Colorado. The flash flood forced the evacuation of dozens of people and knocked out the only water supply line serving tourists and residents. From today, tourists will not be able to stay overnight in the park’s lodges and hotels due to limited water supplies. Permanent residents have been asked to conserve water. The National Park Service said that Saturday’s flash flood swept large boulders and metal structures into the Colorado River. Further rain is forecast for today.
