Madrid (Spain), 31 Aug. (LaPresse) – The 60-year-old Italian man who was arrested last Friday following the discovery of the body of his partner, a 47-year-old German woman, in Isla Cristina, near Huelva, in Spain, has been released. This has been confirmed by the Civil Guard. Once the Judicial Police had completed their on-site investigation and the preliminary forensic report had been included in the case file, the judicial authorities ordered the man’s release. The decision was taken because it was established that the evidence gathered at the scene where the woman’s body was found, together with the results of the forensic analyses, ruled out the initial hypothesis that had led to the arrest, sources within the Civil Guard emphasise. Sources close to the investigation, cited by the public broadcaster RTVE, report that according to the forensic report, the woman inflicted the injuries on herself. The couple were on holiday in Isla Cristina.
