I assured him that Europe stands in full solidarity with Germany in the face of this attack by Russia. We will keep the EU united despite the continuation of these serious and escalating acts. The German government has taken strong measures. And the message is clear: hybrid attacks will not go unanswered.” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen wrote this on X. “We are united in our determination to counter Russian aggression. We will deter anyone who seeks to undermine our freedom and our security. Russia is trying to sow mistrust and fear in our societies. But it will fail. And we will stand by Ukraine for as long as it takes,” added von der Leyen. “Tomorrow I will discuss this issue with NATO Secretary-General Rutte. The matter, including any additional sanctions, will be prepared by the foreign ministers ahead of their next meeting under the Irish Presidency,” she concluded.
