Turin, 3 Sept. (LaPresse) – The Settebello have won the gold medal in the water polo tournament at the Mediterranean Games. This latest triumph comes 33 years after their previous victory at the Languedoc-Roussillon Games, in which Alessandro Campagna was in the water. In Taranto 2026, the Italian side beat Montenegro 18–14 in the final, bringing the Italian season to a triumphant close. This is head coach Campagna’s fourth personal gold, following the three he won as a player: in 1987, 1991 and 1993. It was a double celebration for the Roman goalkeeper from Olympic Roma, Francesco De Michelis, who marked his 27th birthday in the finest possible way. “I dedicate this victory to my family and my teammates.” Serbia took the bronze medal after beating Spain 12–8.
