(LaPresse) – Luciano Darderi has reached the third round of the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the season currently being played on the hard courts of Flushing Meadows (with a record prize fund of $108 million) in New York. In his opening match on Court 12, the 24-year-old of Argentine origin (born in Villa Gesell), ranked 22nd in the world and seeded 21st, defeated the Czech Dalibor Svrcina, ranked 134th in the ATP rankings and a qualifier, in four sets with a score of 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-4.
