Milan, 4 Sept. (LaPresse) – “Today, our government becomes the longest-serving in the history of the Italian Republic. It is a fact that I welcome with gratitude and a strong sense of responsibility. Because stability is not a record to be flaunted, but the condition that allows a nation to plan, make decisions, honour its commitments and command respect.” Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wrote this on her social media. “This stability is not the achievement of a single person,” the Prime Minister emphasised. “It is the result of a united coalition, which has been governing for four years with a shared vision and which has chosen to stand together not against anyone, but to realise a project for Italy.” “I do not believe it is a coincidence that, as of today, the three longest-serving governments in the history of the Republic are all centre-right governments. Stability is built when an alliance shares values, objectives and a vision for the nation, not when the sole reason for staying together is to prevent others from governing,” remarked the Prime Minister, taking a dig at the ‘broad coalition’. “But above all,” she continued, “this stability exists thanks to the Italians who placed their trust in us in 2022. A trust that we have never regarded as a blank cheque and that we will never take for granted.”
