For the 29-year-old from Hamburg, this is his second consecutive five-set victory, following his first-round win against Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego (defeated 6-4, 3-6, 6-7, 7-5, 6-4). His next opponent is Chilean Alejandro Tabilo (ranked 28th in the ATP rankings) and, should he reach the round of 16, he could face another Italian, Luciano Darderi (ranked 22nd). The 22-year-old from Villa Gesell, however, must first take on Australian Dane Sweeny (ranked 123rd in the world), who knocked out Lorenzo Musetti (seeded 14th).
