I have so much to do, so many projects to see through; I’d like to serve right up to the very last day for which the Italians elected us.” This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, at a press briefing during a technical inspection of the student accommodation at the Olympic Village in Milan. Separate general and local elections? “Of course. Local elections are normally held in the spring, when many major cities – from Milan to Rome, Bologna, Turin and Naples – will vote; then, in the autumn, Italians will choose between the centre-right and the ‘campetto’.”
