Milan, 4 Sept. (LaPresse) – Ferrari strikes, Mercedes strikes back. After the red one-two in this morning’s FP1, the Silver Arrows claimed a partial comeback in the afternoon’s free practice session. The fastest time was set by George Russell with 1’22″559, followed by Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc at +0.120 and then the other Mercedes driven by Kimi Antonelli at +0.141. The Italian driver will start the race from the back of the grid due to a power unit change on his car. Lando Norris in the McLaren was fourth, +0.384, whilst Lewis Hamilton clocked the fifth-fastest time, +0.457, followed by Oscar Piastri’s other papaya-coloured car at +0.469. Max Verstappen struggled, finishing only ninth in his Red Bull, +0.818.
