He then added, regarding the leader of Futuro Nazionale: “He is a Member of the European Parliament; I have the opportunity to meet him. As you know, he used to belong to Matteo Salvini’s party, which is our ally and with whom we collaborate. I shall have the opportunity, later today, to meet Matteo and have dinner with him this evening. These bonds of friendship are extremely strong and extremely important to us. But it is not for me to comment on Italian politics. I simply hope that Italians will wish to protect their own identity.”
