L’Aquila, 6 September (LaPresse) – A case of West Nile virus has been reported in Città Sant’Angelo, in the province of Pescara. The announcement came from the Pescara Local Health Authority (ASL) and prompted the mayor, Matteo Perazzetti, to launch extraordinary pest control measures, as had already been promptly implemented in other municipalities such as Pescara and Chieti. Operations began yesterday evening. From 8.00 pm, larviciding operations commenced, with designated staff working on the streets of residential and commercial areas to place larvicide tablets in manholes, drains and gullies, covering the entire municipal area. Mayor Perazzetti has recommended removing any standing water from the outdoor areas of homes and monitoring private drains, taking the necessary measures to prevent the proliferation of mosquitoes, which transmit the virus.
