Frankfurt (Germany), 7 Sept. (LaPresse) – Elon Musk congratulated the AfD on its victory in the regional elections in Saxony-Anhalt, immediately receiving a proposal for collaboration from the party’s lead candidate, Ulrich Siegmund. The tech entrepreneur, who has long been sympathetic to the AfD’s views, wrote “Well done!” on his X platform, commenting on a post by party leader Alice Weidel, who had congratulated Siegmund on the election result, as reported by ARD. The AfD candidate replied by thanking Musk for his “support” and proposing a collaboration. “If we take on responsibility here, I would very much welcome the opportunity for a strong and constructive collaboration. Germany would then once again become a place worth investing in. Warm regards from Saxony-Anhalt!”, wrote Siegmund in English. Richard Grenell, the former US ambassador to Germany and, like Musk, a figure close to US President Donald Trump, also congratulated the AfD on X. “A great victory and a new day in Germany,” wrote Grenell, who had repeatedly sparked controversy with his remarks whilst serving as ambassador in Berlin.
