(LaPresse) – The United States has destroyed five Iranian oil tankers ‘after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted a US Navy warship with ballistic missiles on two occasions over the past two days’. This was reported by US Central Command (CENTCOM), which stated that “the US warship managed to evade the Iranian attack attempts and continued to patrol the region’s waters” with no injuries reported. “In response to Iran’s latest failed attacks, CENTCOM destroyed the IRGC oil tankers M/T Kaviz, M/T Charminar, M/T Horizon 1 and M/T Riesco in the Gulf of Oman, as well as the M/T Derya near Kharg Island”, reads the US Command’s statement, which adds that US forces “ordered the crews to abandon the vessels before they were struck and rendered inoperable”.
