Turin, 9 Sept. (LaPresse) – Robin Raikkonen, son of Formula 1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen, is joining the Red Bull Junior Team. The young Finn will join Red Bull’s driver development programme from 2027. “Robin has already demonstrated exceptional talent in karting,” said Laurent Mekies, Red Bull’s team principal. “His pace, his racing skills and his natural talent have established him as one of the most promising young drivers in his age group. At the same time, he impresses with his maturity, his composure and his clear focus on driving. Our aim is to help him develop step by step, without putting unnecessary pressure on him. The journey in motorsport is a long one, and we will give him the time, support and resources he needs to maximise his potential.” His father, Kimi, added: “We are all excited and delighted that Robin has been chosen to continue his racing career as a member of the Red Bull Junior Team. “Laurent and the whole Red Bull team have supported us incredibly throughout all our discussions,” he continued. “They offer a comprehensive and stimulating programme to develop and nurture Robin’s growth over the coming years and provide him with all the experience needed to develop his natural talent, which he has amply demonstrated in all his karting experiences to date.”
