(LaPresse) – “Attributing an educational value to an event is quite different from trade union freedom”, which “is not up for debate” given that “trade unions are free to invite whoever they wish to their events, and I hope no one thinks that the Minister of the Interior should decide who can speak and who cannot, or limit the prerogatives of the police trade unions”. So said the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, speaking to ‘La Stampa’ regarding the ‘controversy’ that erupted over the conference organised by the police unions in Turin, attended by Roberto Vannacci. “The agreements with the Ministry of the Interior,” added Piantedosi, allow such events to be recognised as training activities “when certain requirements are met”, and in this case “the Department of Public Security, following a detailed review, concluded that those requirements had not been met”.
