Rome, 11 September (LaPresse) – The Adriano Panatta Racquet Club in Treviso will host the final of the Italian Under-14 Girls’ Team Tennis Championships. From 18 to 20 September, the eight best teams in the category will compete in the national stage of the competition, which was presented today in the Sala degli Arazzi at Treviso Town Hall. The tournament marks the final stage of a journey that began with the provincial and regional rounds – in which hundreds of teams from all over Italy took part – and continued with the macro-area draws that determined the eight finalists. “We are delighted to host such an important event for Italian youth tennis,” commented Adriano Panatta. “Seeing the country’s best Under-14 girls on court is a great opportunity for our club and for the whole city. Investing in young people and giving them opportunities to test themselves and compete is the best way to help our sport grow.” During the press conference, Panatta, responding to questions from journalists, returned to the subject of match timings, which had been at the centre of debate following Paolo Bertolucci’s harsh criticism of matches finishing late at night: “I have to agree with my friend Paolo. Playing tennis at certain times, especially after very long matches, is not an ideal situation for the players. The players’ health must come first and foremost, and I believe tennis needs to reflect on this aspect.”
