If, from tomorrow, the names Garofalo and Cosco are no longer associated with the Mafia, it is because two women have been able to take them to other, free places”. This was stated by the chair of the parliamentary Anti-Mafia Committee, Chiara Colosimo, as she remembered the 35-year-old daughter of justice witness Lea Garofalo, who took her own life at the same age at which her mother was murdered by the ‘Ndrangheta, whilst speaking to the audience at the three-day training event ‘International Drug Markets’, currently taking place at the University of Milan. “This committee,” said the chairwoman, speaking off the cuff at the end of her address on new drug routes and markets, “must support women who stand up to the ‘Ndrangheta.”
