Washington, Sept. 12 (LaPresse) – U.S. President Donald Trump has asked the Smithsonian to install a 30-foot, approximately 9-meter, statue of George Washington in front of the National Museum of American History, replacing the current ‘Infinity’ sculpture. Trump also requested an exhibition dedicated to the first U.S. president, to be displayed until February 22, 2032, the 300th anniversary of Washington’s birth, and a statue approximately 3.4 meters tall in the Flag Hall for Constitution Day on September 17. “He is easily America’s greatest hero. Without him, our country and our freedoms would not exist,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. It is unclear whether the president has the power to order the Smithsonian, an institution that operates outside the executive branch, to make the changes.
