(LaPresse) – Elena Rybakina is the new champion of the US Open women’s singles, the final Grand Slam of the season which concluded on the hard courts of Flushing Meadows (with a record prize fund of $108 million) in New York, broadcast free-to-air on SuperTennis and SuperTennis Plus. In the final, the 27-year-old from Moscow, ranked and seeded No. 2, defeated Aryna Sabalenka – world No. 1 until Monday, when she will relinquish the top spot to Rybakina after 99 consecutive weeks at the top (107 in total during her career) – 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 in a match lasting two hours and 21 minutes. For Elena – presented with her trophy by a radiant Maria Sharapova, winner in New York exactly twenty years ago – this is her third Grand Slam title (out of four finals contested), following her victories at Wimbledon in 2022 against Jabeur and at the Australian Open in January against Sabalenka herself; it is her 14th career title.
