Milan, 15 Sept. (LaPresse) – A record-breaking night at the 2026 Emmy Awards for Jean Smart and Allison Janney. The 75-year-old actress from Seattle won the award for Best Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for ‘Hacks’: this is her fifth consecutive Emmy for the same role, the eighth statuette of her career, a feat never before achieved by an actress across all seasons of a show. Allison Janney, meanwhile, won Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for ‘The Diplomat’, equalling Smart’s total number of career Emmys. Monday evening’s ceremony in Los Angeles brought to a close the three-night event held on 5, 6 and 14 September and was broadcast live on NBC from the Peacock Theatre in the Californian capital. The show was executive produced by the host, Mariska Hargitay, alongside Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay of Jesse Collins Entertainment.
