Washington (US), 16 Sept. (LaPresse) – The Federal Reserve has raised interest rates by a quarter of a percentage point. This is the first significant move by the new chairman, Kevin Warsh, to combat persistent inflation. The decision, which brings rates into a new range of between 3.75 per cent and 4 per cent, received the unanimous support of all 12 members of the Federal Open Market Committee. It was the Fed’s first rate rise since July 2023.
