The four parties that make up or support the outgoing Conservative-led government won 173 seats. The center-left Social Democrats, led by former Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, confirmed their position as the leading party, despite declining support. The result strengthens the leader’s hope of returning to lead the country, a post she lost in 2022, but the path to forming a government promises to be complex due to internal tensions within the left-wing bloc.
