Charles called for humanity to be protected, stating that “our humanity must remain sacred”, and urged that we “must not lose control of our destiny”. “AI is already demonstrating its immense capacity to improve and save lives, for example in the fields of life sciences and medicine. However, those who have created these technologies now sense, with growing concern, that AI risks developing darker capabilities, perhaps even taking life itself,” said King Charles III, emphasising that “there appears to be a sense of urgency in properly considering the existential dangers of such technologies falling into the wrong hands and being used in potentially catastrophic ways.”
