Rome, 20 Sept. (LaPresse) – “If we’re not fired up today, after failing to beat a good side like Fiorentina, it certainly means we need to improve. It’s not enough to have 70 per cent possession if you don’t convert your chances.” So said Max Allegri, Napoli’s manager, speaking to DAZN after the 1–1 draw at the Franchi against Fiorentina. “We train to improve in every area; we need to be more focused because in the last minute and a half we lost the ball in a silly way. There’s no excuse of tiredness,” added the Napoli manager, who is trying to take stock after these opening few matchdays. “I think this year’s league is very difficult. The only thing we can do is get our players back to full fitness – not just in terms of skill, but in terms of their attributes: today we have to leave the pitch feeling frustrated. We could have done better; otherwise, it becomes a problem,” he explained. “Hojlund? He put in the effort. Then there were moments where he struggled; he was a bit stubborn with some of his decisions, but he needs to stay calm and composed. He’s already scored and can only get better; Lucca came on well: we need to work on our weaknesses. If we do that, we can achieve good things. If we think we’re so much better than the others, we’ll end up paying the price for that.”
