Milan, 21 Sept. (LaPresse) – He was shouting at passers-by, threatening to attack them in the city centre. A 32-year-old Pakistani national, who is homeless and an undocumented migrant, was arrested last night by the police on charges of resisting a public official and causing bodily harm to a public official, and has been charged with defacing and vandalising other people’s property and throwing dangerous objects. At around 2 am, patrols from the Como Police Headquarters’ Flying Squad were called to Viale Varese following numerous reports of a man who, in a highly agitated state, was railing against passers-by and attempting to attack them. Once tracked down, the 32-year-old, upon seeing the officers, began hurling rubble and other dangerous objects found on the street at them. The police officers managed to subdue him and escort him into the patrol car, despite his continuing to struggle and fly into a rage. The 32-year-old repeatedly head-butted the patrol car, whilst continuing to threaten, insult and spit at the officers. Investigations revealed several previous offences: the 32-year-old was arrested for resisting a public official and causing bodily harm to a public official, and charged whilst on bail with defacing and vandalising other people’s property and throwing dangerous objects; on the orders of the duty public prosecutor, the man was taken to prison in Como. One officer suffered a swollen lip, whilst two others sustained various bruises; all are expected to take 15 days to recover. The Immigration Office at Como Police Headquarters has launched an investigation to take the necessary measures.
