(LaPresse) – From 23 September, all Iranian airlines face a total ban due to their exclusion from international operations following the threat of secondary sanctions by the United States against companies providing them with aviation services. “When Iranian airlines land at an airport, it is not possible to supply them with fuel, provide landing services or sell them tickets, on pain of exclusion from the dollar system,” US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced on CNBC. Bessent, who held talks yesterday with Chinese Vice-Premier He Lifeng, said that Chinese officials had shown themselves to be “very engaged” in Washington’s campaign of economic pressure against Iran. Bessent added that the United States is also holding constructive discussions with Chinese financial authorities, including the Governor of the People’s Bank of China, Pan Gongsheng, regarding compliance with US sanctions against Iran.
