Washington (US), 21 Sept. (LaPresse) – Paramount has reached an agreement with several states, paving the way for its $81 billion merger with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBDS). This is according to the Wall Street Journal, citing sources familiar with the matter. Under the agreement, Paramount will avoid having to sell its cable channels. The final terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed. The agreement between Paramount and Warner would bring together under a single ownership two of the most historic film studios, two major streaming services (Paramount+ and HBO Max), as well as cable networks such as CNN and Cartoon Network. In July, more than a dozen Democrat-led states, including New York and Colorado, had filed a lawsuit to block the deal, citing antitrust laws.
