Trento, 21 Sept. (LaPresse) – Chico Forti has been granted day release. The decision was taken by the Supervisory Court, which has therefore upheld the request submitted by the lawyers of the former Trentino businessman, who has been in prison for 26 years for the murder of Anthony Dale Pike, killed in Miami in 1998. Forti has always maintained his innocence regarding this crime, even during his 24 years in prison in the United States. Forti will be able to leave Montorio prison in Verona and return there only at night. Last year, Forti’s defence team had submitted a request for parole, which was rejected – including by the Court of Cassation – on the grounds of ‘lack of repentance and compensation’.
