North Korean leader Kim Jong Un stated that the development of the weapon would strengthen the country’s military preparedness and cause its enemies an “incurable headache”, according to the official North Korean news agency KCNA. He did not specify what the weapon was. Kim watched the tests alongside his daughter. The South Korean military reported that North Korea launched two short-range missiles on Sunday, three hours apart, from the Wonsan area on the east coast. The Joint Chiefs of Staff in Seoul stated that the missiles travelled approximately 450 and 600 kilometres out to sea, whilst the Japanese armed forces said they fell into waters outside the country’s exclusive economic zone.
