Milan, 24 Sept. (LaPresse) – The preliminary hearing for Antonio Lenoci, charged with vehicular homicide through gross negligence in the performance of his duties in connection with the death of Ramy Elgaml, the 19-year-old who died on 24 November 2024 following an 8-kilometre chase through the streets of Milan involving officers from the Mobile Patrol Unit, and for the other six officers charged on various counts of procedural fraud, aiding and abetting, and forgery in relation to their handling of the hours following the accident. Preliminary hearing judge Tiziana Landoni took note of the lawyers’ abstention – a stance also adopted yesterday by the Milan Criminal Bar Association – and adjourned the first two hearings – including the one to determine the trial procedure – to 6 November and 21 December 2026. Also charged with complicity in causing a fatal road accident is Fares Bouzidi, Ramy’s friend, who was 22 at the time and was riding the T-Max scooter being pursued by the three ‘gazzelle’ before the final, fatal swerve to the left at the junction of Via Ripamonti and Via Quaranta; he has already been convicted on appeal under the summary procedure for resisting a public official in connection with the same events.
