Rome, 24 September (LaPresse) – On the fast indoor court at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Centre Arena in Shenzhen, Italy and China are level at 1–1 following the singles matches in the quarter-final of the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Finals. Following the defeat of Elisabetta Cocciaretto – who appeared to be in far from optimal physical condition – by Zhang Shuai in the opening match between the two teams’ number twos, it was Jasmine Paolini who levelled the tie, defeating Zheng Qinwen 6-3, 7-6(4), in one hour and 42 minutes, defeating Zheng Qinwen for the first time in five meetings and extending her winning streak for the national team to nine matches.
