Rome, 24 Sept. (LaPresse) – The Council of Ministers has approved the decree-law that averts the ban on Euro 5 diesel vehicles in the Po Valley. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) announced this, noting the “great satisfaction of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, who had called for targeted government action to safeguard the mobility of citizens and businesses”. In Italy, it is explained, there are approximately 3.5 million passenger cars and 0.6 million commercial vehicles running on Euro 5 diesel, whilst over 1.2 million passenger cars and 200,000 commercial vehicles are in operation in the Po Valley. For Salvini, “this is an important result that meets the practical needs of families, workers and the production sector, avoiding a blanket ban that would have had significant consequences for mobility and economic activity”.
