(LaPresse) – SPD leader, Finance Minister and German Deputy Chancellor Lars Klingbeil has once again called for a formal examination of the possibility of banning the AfD. “Now is the right time. The review process must now be put on the table,” Klingbeil told the Phoenix broadcaster, as reported by *Welt*. The AfD, according to the Social Democrat leader, is “clearly hostile to the Constitution”. “I do not want us to make the mistake, for a second time in our German history, of failing to defend ourselves in time against the enemies of democracy,” he said, adding that he hoped all democratic forces would share this assessment.
