Then, in Rome, for a number of reasons I won’t go into here, objectively there is anticipation, there are expectations, with all that that entails, obviously. It’s clear that it’s a shame, and it’s disheartening that there are other situations which, in my view, have very little to do with sport.” So said FIGC President Giovanni Malagò on the sidelines of the event ‘Football Returns to the Streets’, organised by Rome City Council in collaboration with the FIGC: “As far as I’m concerned, I believe the situation has been made clear,” added Malagò, “I don’t feel I can convey any other message whatsoever; it seems to me that everything is very clear, starting precisely with your sector; it seems to me that the thoughts and opinions – though one must never assume unanimity – but it seems to me that the overwhelming majority, including those representing the media, have very clear ideas and have made their wishes known.”
