The club has been found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges brought against it, according to sources familiar with the matter cited by the New York Times. The charges were first formally laid in February 2023, following a four-year investigation. Sanctions have not yet been determined – all options remain on the table – and City is expected to lodge an appeal. A City spokesperson told ‘The Athletic’ that “the Premier League proceedings are still ongoing, with significant aspects yet to be determined, and are subject to a strict duty of confidentiality. Therefore, Manchester City FC’s position remains consistent with the statement issued by the club in February 2023” in which it defended itself and said it was “surprised” by all the charges.
